Supporting the Registered Manager in the daily management & running of the service. Managing, delivering & leading high-quality care as part of the care team using a person-centred approach and ensuring the individual needs of service users are met, providing opportunities for individuals to use their skills and enhance their quality of life whilst maintaining their independence and privacy.
Supporting the service to recruit and develop new care workers, supporting, supervising and performance managing them
· Supporting the Registered Manager and deputising in their absence to operationally manage and support the care and support delivered as Deputy Manager for the service in line with CQC requirements.
· Providing professional and operational day-to-day management to a team of support workers within Ndima Healthcare
· To support the selection, recruitment and induction of care assistants
· Act as the responsible person for the safe running of the service in the absence of the Registered Manager
· Support the Registered Manager when the CQC, the Local Authority and Ndima Healthcare inspections and quality audits of the service, ensuring evidence of high-quality care delivery is recorded on an ongoing basis •
· Be involved and lead change when required for its development
· Be responsible for implementing values and principles in social care practice that has positive outcomes for residents, ensuring that all aspects of life within the service are accessible and inclusive.
· To assess, implement and update Person-Centred Care Plans for the people we care for and support, ensuring that the level of care and quality of life is at a standard required by the Local Authority in line with the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
· Ensure that staff understand their duty of care regarding medical and other emergencies and are confident in contacting emergency, primary care and on-call services.
· Carry out regular Quality Audits to ensure that Ndima Healthcare’s policies are implemented.
· Promote Safeguarding at all times and ensure legal compliance with national and local safeguarding policies.
· Encourage service user feedback and suggestions for improving services and promote a positive attitude to complaints seeing them as a way to inform and improve service provision.
· To facilitate staff meetings take place on a regular basis with as full a staff complement as possible and keep records to ensure continual and consistent communication between all members of the team.
· To ensure staff members are up to date with their mandatory training and undertake additional training as appropriate to enhance their own personal; development and provide additional skills to the team to meet the needs of the residents and service users.
· To maintain employee records securely, including address, telephone number and next of kin, etc. and ensure they are readily available during formal inspections and quality audits.
· Being prepared to work flexibly to ensure the safe delivery of the service by being part of an ‘on-call’ rota within the Ndima Healthcare Service.
· Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off-site, as and when required, and take responsibility for your own personal and professional development.
Knowledge and understanding
· Excellent understanding of the needs of people who require care and support at home and the provision of home care services in line with best practice
· Excellent understanding of the principles of high-quality person-centred care and support and non-discriminatory care practice
· Good understanding of the regulatory responsibilities of a Registered organisation and the law relating to domiciliary care services.
· Must have S/NVQ L4 or equivalent or be willing to work towards a relevant management Qualification
· Understanding of systems to maintain confidentiality in relation to customers, staff and the Business
· Knowledge of health and safety matters in relation to homecare services and risk management
· Knowledge of how to recognise abuse and safeguarding procedures
· Excellent communication skills. Experience in building positive working relationships with people who use services and their families, staff and other health and social care professionals
· Ability to support customers with all aspects of their daily living in a manner that respects their dignity, is non-judgmental and promotes their independence, choices and privacy
· Experience in care services, risk assessment and person-centred care and support
· Ability to plan and organise workloads effectively, so customers receive the services they expect
· Good administrative skills and computer literacy
· Experience in managing and developing an effective staff team, including recruitment, training, supporting and supervising staff
· Ability to maintain clear written and electronic records and to follow statutory reporting procedures
· Ability to implement policies, procedures and instructions
· Willingness to work flexibly and to keep knowledge and skills up to date.
· Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service, formally known as the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure
· Experience in managing the delivery of social care services
· Knowledge of business management
